Health Promotion Planning: An Intervention Mapping Approach

UT Health Houston - School of Public HealthIntervention Mapping (IM) offers a step-by-step program to make theory practical and for creating effective interventions, using the best information from the behavioral and social sciences. We have taught this course to over 500 participants on four continents and will be able to link participants to colleagues who are using the IM process.

This course aims to build knowledge and skills in developing theory-informed and evidence-based health promotion programs and interventions rooted in the behavioral and social sciences. Students will participate in creating an initial program plan for a topic of their interest by following a planning process that includes conducting an initial needs assessment, developing the program, developing implementation strategies, and crafting an evaluation plan. The course format includes lectures, small group work using problem based learning, group discussions, and presentations of student projects.
