San Antonio Life Sciences Institute logo

The San Antonio Life Sciences Institute (SALSI) Academy is a collaborative partnership between UT Health San Antonio and the University of Texas at San Antonio. The mission of the Academy is to highlight research excellence at each institution and to promote collaborative discovery.

As part of a SALSI commitment to the research training pipeline, the SALSI Postdoctoral Scholar program will support a one-year neuroscience fellowship at the UT Health San Antonio. This SALSI Postdoctoral Scholar program is conducted under the umbrella of the Center for Biomedical Neuroscience, an Organized Research Unit recognized by the University of Texas System, with input from the Vice President for Research Office of Postdoctoral Affairs.

Candidates for the SALSI Postdoctoral Scholar are outstanding early career scientists within the first three years of postdoctoral research training after graduation from a doctoral program. Scholars may be from a wide range of biomedical research training laboratories at UT Health San Antonio; however, the focus of their research must involve the neurosciences. The program is open to all qualified postdoctoral applicants (national and international) at UT Health San Antonio.

The awardee will be selected on a competitive basis by a review committee appointed by the CBN and the VPR office.  The award includes an annual salary of $47,476 plus benefits. The award must be initiated by August 1, 2017 and will conclude on July 31, 2018.

The Awardee is expected to participate in SALSI-sponsored events, such as the annual SALSI Innovation Forum, and to provide input to SALSI procedural activities/processes, such as the implementation of SALSI funding opportunities. Awardees must submit a semi-annual report of progress. Awardees must present their research at the annual San Antonio Postdoctoral Research Forum (SAPRF) and to at least one research Institution in the San Antonio area.
