Guidelines for Investigators

Information for Interested Investigators

Do you have a research project that you would like to conduct in the community primary care practice setting? Do you need pilot data for your next grant? Our network has an established connection between EHRs in 21 of our 180 member clinics throughout South Texas. Collaborating with STARNet may be your answer.

South Texas Clinical Informatics Collaboration Flyer

STARNet has an established process interested investigators are asked to follow when approaching us with a potential research study or request. Following this process will help STARNet leadership determine the services you need for your particular research project and/or the feasibility of having the study conducted in the community primary care practice setting.

First you will need to determine the level of clinician involvement required by your study. To look through the proposal review process flowchart, please click on the appropriate link your study falls under:

  1. Non-Intensive Pilot Study
  2. Clinician/Staff Intensive Research Study

Next, complete the form below and send it Walter Calmbach, MD at calmbach@uthsca.edu or at (210) 358-3930. We will contact you to schedule an appointment with the network leadership. Each proposal is also reviewed by the STARNet board of directors for input.
