The CHAB consists of members who reside or work in the South Texas area. Current members represent various community sectors such as business, education, faith-based, healthcare, military, and local government.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Responsibilities<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meetings are held quarterly.\u00a0 Each member is expected to serve on at least one special subcommittee per year. These special subcommittees may include the Community Engagement Small Project Grants Review and the Community Engagement Symposium Promotion committee. Time commitments will vary, however the minimum amount is approximately six hours per year.\u00a0 Furthermore, members are specifically charged with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Providing feedback and guidance to individuals or agencies interested in developing or enhancing a community-academic partnership which promotes the translation of science<\/li>\n<li>Advocating for collaboration and resource integration for the development or enhancement of projects focused on improving the community\u2019s health and well-being<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Membership Benefits<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The CHAB serves as a bridge between the UTHSA\u2013IIMS and the South Texas community.
