It is expected that most applicants will have a health professional degree (e.g., MD, DDS, DMD, PhD, or BS or MS in nursing and\/or allied health) or a BS\/BA or MS degree with emphasis in a health-related discipline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Can I apply if I have a j-1 Visa or if I obtain an F-1 Visa?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Yes.\u00a0 However, individuals obtaining an F-1 visa must attend full-time as required by the F-1 visa rules and there are enrollment principles for individuals with J-1 Visa status.\u00a0 Enrollment principles for students with J-1 visa are as follows: Enrollment in classes must be incidental to their primary activities for which they came to the UTHSCSA. Enrollment in the research course must be done under the supervision of your research mentor.\u00a0 The research course must directly relevant to and obtained from the work you are conducting in the United States.\u00a0 The number of research credits allowed per semester will be determined on a case-by-case basis, based on the individual circumstances of the student.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How long will it take to earn the MSCI-TS Degree?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Students enrolling full-time should complete their MSCI-TS degree in two years.\u00a0 Students enrolling part-time can expect to complete their MSCI-TS degree in three to four years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How many credit hours are needed to earn the MSCI-TS degree?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>A total of 30 semester credit hours (sch) are required to obtain the MSCI-TS degree. There are 18 sch of required didactic courses, 1.0 sch of thesis, and typically the remaining 11.0 sch are obtained by taking the research course; however, the MSCI-TS elective course sch can also be counted towards the 11.0 sch.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How much does the program cost?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Tuition and fees can be found on the Student Services website.<\/li>\n<li>Website: (<a href=\"http:\/\/students.uthscsa.edu\/financialaid\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/06\/GSG-Fall-2022-New-Students.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/students.uthscsa.edu\/financialaid\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/06\/GSG-Fall-2022-New-Students.pdf<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How do I apply to the MSCI-TS program?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>To apply to the MSCI-TS Program you must complete and submit the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences on-line application, here: (<a href=\"http:\/\/gsbs.uthscsa.edu\/prospective_students\/gsbs-application\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/gsbs.uthscsa.edu\/prospective_students\/gsbs-application<\/a>). \u00a0The applicant checklist may be used as a guide while applying to the MSCI-TS program to ensure all requirements are fulfilled, which is found here: (<a href=\"https:\/\/iims.uthscsa.edu\/education\/education\/programs\/msci-ts\/forms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/iims.uthscsa.edu\/ed_msci_forms.html<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Do I have to have my foreign transcripts translated?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Yes, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences requires that all foreign transcripts be translated by providing a list of all courses taken and the cumulative grade point average.\u00a0 Foreign transcripts maybe translated from NACES Members (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.naces.org\/members\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.naces.org\/members<\/a>).
