Overview:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u202f Master of Science in Clinical Investigation and Translational Science (MSCI-TS) program is focused on preparing investigators skilled in the conduct of outstanding clinical and translational research in a variety of diverse settings.\u202f Translational Science bridges the gap between basic research and human studies to impact the health of communities, policies, and clinical practice. Translational Science is the field of investigation focused on understanding the scientific and operational principles underlying each step of the Translational Process. The goal of this program is to prepare investigators skilled in the conduct of outstanding clinical and translational research in various diverse settings.<\/p>\n

The MSCI-TS is specifically designed for working professionals to attain intensive multidisciplinary training. The MSCI-TS will provide fundamental curricular activities and valuable training opportunities in translational research, with our students participating in mentored research that will culminate in a manuscript submitted to a peer-reviewed scientific journal. Students in this program will gain skills in ethics\/human subject research training, methods, biostatistics, data management, scientific communication, health services research, research development\/implementation, and dissemination.<\/p>\n

Governance:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The MSCI-TS program is led by the Program Director, Helen P. Hazuda, PhD, as well as a hands-on Committee on Graduate Studies (COGS). The MSCI-TS COGS meets on a monthly basis and is comprised of faculty from each of the UT Health San Antonio\u2019s five schools. The COGS participates, reviews and approves applicants to the program, curriculum, course materials, student\u2019s research project proposals, manuscripts, and graduation recommendations. Additionally, the MSCI-TS COGS evaluates and discusses any student or curriculum issues related to the program.<\/p>\n

The Master of Science in Clinical Investigation and Translational Science (MSCI-TS) Program is part of the Institute for Integration of Medicine and Science and is funded by the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) from the National Institutes of Health, National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NIH\/NCATS) (UL1 TR002645).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
