Luci K. Leykum, MBA, MSC, MD
Luci K. Leykum, MBA, MSC, MD is the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where she also serves as an Associate Professor and Division Chief of Hospital Medicine within the School of Medicine. Dr. Leykum also serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor at The University of Texas at Austin in the Department of Information, Risk and Operations Management. Dr. Leykum holds clinical positions in San Antonio at University Health Systems and South Texas Veterans Health Systems. Dr. Leykum earned her MD with an MBA at Columbia University and completed a residency at the College of Physicians & Surgeons, Columbia University, New York Presbyterian Hospital in 2002. She is a board certified Internal Medicine Physician. Dr. Leykum’s research has focused on the application of the lens of complexity science to clinical systems. She has served as a Co-Investigator in studies of learning in primary care teams, and has led and contributed to clinical systems improvement and change publications on a variety of care settings. Her most recent studies use a complexity science framework to understand how relationships and sense making differ between physician teams, and how these differences relate to patient outcomes.
