Marybeth Farquhar, PhD, MSN, RN, is Vice President of Performance Measures at the National Quality Forum (NQF). Dr. Farquhar is responsible for strategic oversight and execution of the NQF consensus development projects.
Dr. Farquhar has more than 30 years of experience in nursing, healthcare administration, research, and management. Prior to her tenure at NQF, Dr. Farquhar led key activities of the Agency for Healthcare and Quality’s (AHRQ) Quality Indicators initiative and collaborated with the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) team on several projects, including Hospital CAHPS. She has served as an expert on quality measurement issues and has contributed to several publications on the topic of healthcare, including Regulation & Governance, American Journal of Nursing,
and International Journal of Public Administration.
Dr. Farquhar is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Director’s Award of Merit (2007), Secretary’s Award for Distinguished Service (2005), Director’s Award of Merit (2004), and AHRQ Director’s Citation for Outstanding Group Performance—Hospital CAHPS Team (2003–2004). Dr. Farquhar received her doctoral degree in public policy and public affairs from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
