Patricia Donohue-Porter, PhD, RN is an Associate Professor and Director of the PhD Program at Adelphi University, School of Nursing, Garden City, NY. She received her PhD and M.S. in Nursing from Adelphi University and her B.S. in Nursing from Molloy College.

She has an extensive background in nursing as a clinical nurse specialist, program administrator, faculty member and Associate Dean. These positions have influenced her deep respect for the collaboration necessary among research, practice and education. Her research program focuses on courage development and diabetes as well as nursing scholarship, theory-guided evidence-based practice and PhD program development. She has published and presented in a number of venues and is the co-author of Diabetes: A Comprehensive Self-Management Handbook.
