Rosemary Kennedy, RN, MBA, FAAN, is the Senior Director of Nursing and Healthcare Informatics at the National Quality Forum (NQF) in Washington, DC. In addition to being an informatics domain expert, Ms. Kennedy holds many leadership roles through her work with the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), and the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA). She is a delegate to the International Medical Informatics Association Nursing Informatics Special Interest Group (IMIA NI-SIG) and serves as a leader of the nursing informatics communities at AMIA.
Ms. Kennedy is widely presented and published in the fields of nursing informatics, clinical documentation, and terminology standards. Additionally, she testified to the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics (NCVHS) regarding terminology standard recommendations for the Department of Health and Human Services. She is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and recently received the HIMSS 2009 Nursing Informatics Award, as well as the Top 25 Women in Healthcare award for 2009.
Ms. Kennedy recently served as the Chief Nursing Informatics Officer for Siemens Healthcare Solutions, where she provided professional practice leadership over the development and deployment of solutions to ensure compliance with nursing practice and interdisciplinary requirements. Ms. Kennedy is a graduate of Widener University and is pursuing a doctorate in nursing at Loyola University.
