Virginia Moyer is a Professor of Pediatrics and Chief of Academic General Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital, where she is also Chief medical Quality Officer. Dr. Moyer received her undergraduate degree from Rice University, her MD from Baylor College of Medicine, and her MPH from the University of Texas. She has particular interests in teaching clinical epidemiology, diagnostic tests in clinical care, and is an AHRQ- funded patient safety researcher. She is a member of the Evidence Based Medicine Working Group, the AAP Steering Committee on Quality Improvement and Management, the International Advisory Board for the Cochrane Collaboration Child Health Field, and is the Chair of the United States Preventive Services Task Force. Dr. Moyer is Editor in Chief of the book Evidence Based Pediatrics and Child Health (2nd ed.), Deputy Editor of Pediatrics, Associate Editor of Evidence Based Child Health: A Cochrane Journal, and is on the editorial board of AAP Grand Rounds. In 2004, Dr. Moyer received the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine award at the University of Texas, and in 2006 was inducted into the University of Texas Academy of Health Science Education.
