Register now for a virtual NIH research and implementation event on Oct. 12-14, 2021.

Approximately one-fifth of Americans live in rural areas. These areas experience higher mortality rates, a higher prevalence of diseases and lower life expectancy than in urban areas. Telehealth-guided communication between care providers has the potential to increase access to services and improve health outcomes in underserved rural populations, but more research is needed.

On October 12-14, NIH will host the Pathways to Prevention Workshop: Improving Rural Health Through Telehealth-Guided Provider-to-Provider Communication. Sponsored in part by NHLBI, the virtual event aims to identify research gaps, explore barriers and facilitate successful, sustainable implementation of provider-to-provider telehealth in rural settings.
