The Clinical Research Unit (CRU) offers space dedicated to research, providing an ideal environment to conduct studies safely and efficiently according to Good Clinical Practices (GCP). Our facility includes:
- Research Nursing Staff
- Investigational Drug Service
- 4 exam rooms equipped with hospital bed or exam table
- 2 over-sized infusion chairs
- Lab processing & shipping
- Computer access and printing capabilities in all exam rooms
- ECG machines
- Vital machines
- Infusion pumps
- Over-sized phlebotomy station
- Available conference room for monitor visits
Nursing
The CRU nursing staff consists of experienced, skilled nurses who demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise, critical thinking, and complex decision-making skills. They are attentive to the requirements for precision in the performance of study procedures.
- Investigational product administration
- IV access and infusions, including continuous monitoring
- Routine and complex vital sign monitoring
- Phlebotomy and timed specimen collections
Laboratory Services
Located in the CRU, the processing lab provides sample processing and shipping and includes a specimen refrigerator, -80º and -20º degree freezers, refrigerated and room temperature centrifuges, dry ice.

- Sample results reporting from LabCorp
- UPS and LabCorp daily pick up for specimen shipping
- Short-term sample storage (<6 months)
Investigational Drug Pharmacy Services
Located in the CRU, the Research Pharmacy provides investigational product (IP) receipt, preparation and dispensing, and accountability.
- Investigational product (IP) receipt and inventory accountability
- Secure, temperature-monitored IP storage (frozen, refrigerated, and room temperature)
- Prepare IP per protocol, including blinded IP
- Label and dispense IP per protocol
- Dispose/destroy IP per regulations/requirements
- Pharmacy binder maintenance
